Mr San Peppy (#0548845)
The seventh foal of stallion Leo San and mare Peppy Belle, Mr San Peppy started his life on the ranch of Gordon B. Howell, an American Quarter Horse breeder with equal interests in both cutting and racing.
Started in cutting events by cowboy Buster Welch (who purchased him prior to the duo winning 1974 NCHA world title), Mr San Peppy came to the notice of King Ranch through cutting events. King Ranch purchased Mr San Peppy in 1976.
Buster tagged along to keep the horse in shape.
Although both Mr San Peppy and his foals changed the course of the ranching and cutting industries, with earnings in NCHA competition and points in AQHA competitions, the fondest memories of Mr San Peppy are held in the minds of cowboys, who saw his effects on the King Ranch remuda and experienced his solid performance.
Ridden every day until he passed away at 30 years of age, Mr San Peppy was inducted into the AQH Hall of Fame in 2011. Learn more about Mr San Peppy at AQHA Hall of Fame.
