King (#0000234)
Purchased for $800 in the midst of The Great Depression '30s by Jess Hankins of Rocksprings, Texas, King worked with Jess as a regular cow, roping and cutting horse until his popularity and breeding schedule left little time for ranch work.
Although sire of a few racehorses, King is best remembered for line of horses with tremendous performance abilities and cow sense. So prevalent and cherished is the King line, we find his lineage in many of our Third River remuda pedigrees.
King lived to age 26 and was inducted into the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame in 1989. You can learn more about King at AQHA Hall of Fame.
